After moving files (between folders, hard drives, servers, etc.), when you open the moved assemblies or drawings, a prompt will ask you to specify the new location of the referenced components. Dependencies enables you to preemptively complete this step very quickly. Thus you preserve the integrity of your documents and decrease the risk of dependency errors.

Dependencies is used to redefine a new path for the references of your SolidWorks documents without having to open them one by one.
