SmartProperties

Ensure designers enter the correct document properties during the modeling stage.

The creation of properties is an unavoidable stage in design. With this tool you can adapt property entry to your working standards. You can define properties to be dependent on the values of other properties, such that the properties of interest are automatically updated according to user-defined parameters. For example, you can create a conditional property dependent on a dimension value, and the conditional property will automatically update if the dimension value is changed. This way, you can spend less time verifying property methodology, as you can be sure it was done correctly by the designer.

SmartProperties makes it possible to quickly create and modify a list of easily definable properties through a customizable data entry form, for all types of SolidWorks documents. These properties can then be used to create a bill of materials, to control an annotation, to recover the value of a dimension, or to fill a title block.

Key Features
  • Customizable property entry forms saved in XML format to easily centralize and switch between property lists
  • Assorted choice of property types
    • Text box, drop-down menu, SolidWorks variable, date, etc.
    • Condition, character string, calculation, etc.
  • Apply properties to documents, configurations, weldment cut lists
  • Lock the property settings menu to ensure administration rights
  • Set different parameters for individual properties (e.g. required, locked, hidden, etc.)
  • Save property values in favorites to easily fulfill the properties of similar documents
